A presença de brasileiros no Sistema ONU não é nova. Mas os números são muito baixos e o Brasil é considerado “país sub-representado” pela própria ONU.
Com o objetivo de aumentar a presença brasileira no Sistema das Nações Unidas, o UNIC-Rio lançou a iniciativa “Brasileiros na ONU“, que recebeu todo o apoio da REBRAPAZ. Assim, por meio de nosso site e página do Facebook, contribuiremos, de nossa maneira, ao esforço maior de aumentar a representação de nossos compatriotas no Sistema ONU.

Um documento da Assembleia Geral (A/72/123) demonstra que há 39.651 civis trabalhando no Secretariado da ONU. Desses, apenas 173 são brasileiros (84 mulheres e 89 homens), representando 0,44% do total.
Se considerarmos apenas os professionals (nível P) e os de nível sênior (nível D e acima), há apenas 46 brasileiros (19 mulheres e 27 homens) em um universo de 3.005 pessoas, ou 1,53% do total.
No âmbito das agências, programas e fundos da ONU, foi feito um levantamento de contratos com duração maior que 1 ano, que abarca os professionals, G staff e Field Services, e exclui contratos temporários como consultores e UNV (CEB/2017/HLCM/HR/21). De um total de 97.891 funcionários, apenas 719 são brasileiros, ou seja, 0,73%. Praticamente metade desses brasileiros (357) trabalham em território nacional, não apenas em Brasília, Rio de Janeiro ou São Paulo, mas também em Belém, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador e São Luís.

Brazilians at the UN
The presence of Brazilians in the UN System is not new, but the numbers are very low and Brazil is considered an “under-represented country” by the UN itself.
With the objective of increasing the Brazilian presence in the United Nations System, UNIC-Rio launched the “Brazilians at the UN” initiative, which received full support from REBRAPAZ. Thus, through our website and Facebook page, we will contribute, in our way, to the greater effort to increase the representation of our compatriots in the UN System.
